| The Program Research on early brain development underscores the need to focus on the early years to improve children’s self-concept/emotional, social, language, physical, and cognitive development. The ages between birth and five are critical to child development. Wetumpka Preschool follows the Alabama Early Learning Guidelines that embraces all ages with appropriate consideration for unique characteristics of development at each age. Children must receive appropriate nurturing and education within and outside their families from birth onward if they are to develop optimally. Wetumpka Preschool utilizes curriculum materials from the HighReach Learning Curriculum, the Creative Curriculum and Houghton Mifflin Literacy and Math for the state funded pre-K. Bright Baby The multisensory curriculum actively engages and stimulates infants through social interactions: talking, playing, moving, singing, reading and signing. Curriculum for Toddlers In their quest for independence, toddlers are developing many new skills such as walking, talking and discovering who they are and what they can do. The curriculum encourages their sense of discovery while developing language skills while building vocabulary, encouraging imagination and personalizing learning. Curriculum for Twos Two-year-olds are constantly in motion and use their natural curiosity for hands-on discovery. The curriculum provides a rich learning environment that develops self-regulation and cognitive skills and expands vocabulary. Curriculum for Threes The curriculum builds on three-year olds “I can do it!” attitude through integrated, hands-on learning experiences. Experimentation and exploration builds higher-level thinking, language, math, social, and motor skills with fun and challenging experiences. Curriculum for Pre-K Building a foundation for lifelong learning through play, the curriculum allows children to investigate new interests and experiences. Children gain independence and self-confidence with their growing abilities, while achieving readiness skills needed for kindergarten. Children are assessed and evaluated twice a year. Parent conferences are held at the beginning and end of the school year. |
